First Genealogy Goal Accomplished (sort of)

I made several goals for my genealogy research to help me focus my time now that I have fleshed out my mother’s side of my family. It’s kind of ironic that the family I knew as a child is riddled with holes in information and the family I never knew was fairly easy to document. For Blogging101, I discovered the Reader and found lots of blogs to follow, especially genealogy and Blogging101 blogs. I was inspired to share one of my genealogy discoveries. What I learned from 23andMe

Over a year ago, I submitted my saliva┬áspit to 23andMe to be informed of my health risks. It was a long wait for the results since I took advantage of the price drop to $99. When I got my results, I was not surprised really. I have a chance for Parkinson’s Disease which is understandable since my mother has Parkinson’s and so did a great grandfather. I grew up only knowing my father’s family and mostly from a distance. His family was in New York and we were nomadic on the east coast. I knew no one from my mother’s family from Iowa.
